The DNC

The Democratic National Convention took our precious city by storm, I was lucky enough to get to work one of the events. MoveOn organized and curated an exhibition called “Manifest Hope” which was an intelligent, creative portrayal of Barack Obama’s campaign and proposed policy. Famous and emergent artists from around the county donated original works for the exhibit and many were there for the event. I got to rub elbows with the likes of Shepard Fairey, Maya Huron and fellow Denver artist Scot LeFavor. MoveOn also held a VIP party in the space where Sarah Silverman, Jenny Lee Lewis, Death Cab for Cutie, Zooey Deschanel and DJ Z Trip performed. A outside stage also held performances by The Cold War Kids and Clap your Hands and Say Yeah. A wonderful event to take in. Go Obama Go! Here are some of my photos.

Sink & Hatgi’s latest

Photographers Kristen Hatgi and Mark Sink asked me to come by and sit for them. Both are experimenting with an archival process called wet plate photography. Two pieces of glass, about the size of a postcard, sandwich light sensitive chemicals smeared there. They use a large format camera to capture the image. The whole process takes about ten minutes per shot. I was asked to sit in a wrought iron sculpture, my arms and legs spread and grasping, I had to sit this way for approximately twenty seconds without moving.

The end result is breathtaking.
